Limits on the Pro subscription (2026)

[edit | edit source]
Main article: Perplexity throttles PRO subscribers without prior notice

In February 2026, Perplexity set limits for Pro subscribers who previously did not have any limits.

Limits on free accounts on PCs (2026)

[edit | edit source]

In mid-September 2026, Perplexity introduced limits for logged-in free-account users even for the most basic searches, making Perplexity the first known LLM website to become fully useless after only few queries when not having a subscription. This limit can factually not be bypassed by simply opening a private browser-window and using Perplexity without being logged into the site, as a login-notification prohibits further interaction, hinting at the company using IP-level query-throttling. This limit strangely does not seem to apply to the Perplexity (Android) app.
