Consumer impact summary

[edit | edit source]

The Mirage AR had no onboard processing: it displayed content from a companion app running on the user's smartphone, and could not be used without one.[1] When the companion apps were retired in 2022, the hardware was left without the software required to use it. The retirement notices stated that, in accordance with the Disney Terms of Use, Disney is not responsible for providing refunds or credits for missions or game features that may no longer be available once an app is retired.[3][4]

Companion apps retired (2022)

[edit | edit source]

On June 1, 2022, the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges app and gear were retired, with product support ending on July 6, 2022.[3] The Marvel Dimension of Heroes app and gear were retired on the same date, with support likewise ending on July 6, 2022.[4]

With both companion apps retired, the Mirage AR headset and its bundled controllers and tracking beacon were left without the software required to use them, and no refunds were offered for the retired content.[3][4]
