Oneplus (Chinese: 一加) is a Chinese electronics manufacturer, spun off from Oppo in 2013 as a separate brand. OnePlus sells smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, and other accessories around the world, whereas Oppo's presence outside of China is somewhat more limited. The company has generally been well regarded in terms of consumer protection and is fairly supportive of allowing bootloader unlocking and therefore, third-party modifications for their hardware.

This is a list of all consumer-protection incidents this company is involved in. Any incidents not mentioned here can be found in the OnePlus category.

Bootloader unlocking restrictions (2025)

[edit | edit source]
Main article: link to the main article

Starting from ColorOS 16, OnePlus intends to make the process of unlocking bootloader more complicated by requiring developers and users to sign up for the "深度测试计划" (In-Depth Testing Program).[1] While as of now, it is only going to impact users in China[2], there is a chance that this change may come to the global version of OnePlus phones on OxygenOS.[3]

adding Anti-Rollback mechanisms to devices (2026-01-18)

[edit | edit source]
Main article: Oneplus phone update introduces hardware anti-rollback

On 18 January 2026, many users on the XDA Forms reported that the ColorOS/OxygenOS 16.0.3.501 update introduces a hardware-level Anti-Rollback (ARB) mechanism for devices not shipping with OxygenOS/ColorOS 16. Updating to the version causes the anti-rollback fuse to be blown which leads to permanent bricking of the device if any older ROM (custom or not) is flashed to it.[4]

Telemetry generated by the oneplus phone

[edit | edit source]

Even after debloating the phone from all the unnecessary apps your phone will continue to send telemetry and use some domains owned by them for captive portal detection.

For this example, this information was taken from Nord N30 (Running Oxygen OS 14) and actually any other oneplus phone is generating dns calls to the following domains:

Domains called by the oneplus phone
classify-app-us.allawnos.com
routergtest14.oneplus.com
conn-service-us-04.allawnos.com (this is depending on the region you are at eu, us, server number 04, 05, 07, etc)
www.google.us
connectivitycheck.gstatic.com

It's not clear what routergtest14.oneplus.com does or which system file/apk is generating this or even the condition it's being called at.

Oneplus seems to log and track every apk you install on your phone. every time the user update or install an apk, classify-app-us.allawnos.com is called from the phone.

conn-service-*-*.allawnos.com, www.google.us and connectivitycheck.gstatic.com domain are called for detecting captive portals on wifi.

-For savvy users who are interested in cleaning the phone up, anything below has to be done on a rooted phone (preferably on a linux machine and have adb app installed).

-You will need Magisk to allow the adb shell into root.

-Disclaimer: i used those and it worked for me, i should not be held accountable for any damage that manifests from this.

linux:~$ adb shell

OPXXXXXX:/ $ su

OPXXXXXX:/ #

-The below command will stop the conn-service and www.google.us from being generated:

settings put global captive_portal_mode 0

-To disable the connectivitycheck.gstatic.com (it may or may not work, inconsistent results seen from the workaround):

pm disable com.google.android.captiveportallogin

-The result from the command output:

Package com.google.android.captiveportallogin new state: disabled

-Then run:

settings put global captive_portal_mode_ignore 0

settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0

-Then reboot your phone.

-To block routergtest14.oneplus.com and "classify-app-us.allawnos.com" you will need to install a DNS filtering app on your phone that filters dns calls and configure a manual block for these domains. my test for this was with an app is rethinkdns (you can use adguard).

-For the allawnos domains, these are coming from a system file located under: /system_ext/framework/oplus-wifi-service.jar

OPXXXXXX:/ $ grep -a "allawnos" /system_ext/framework/oplus-wifi-service.jar

hostname = hotspot failed state!$hotspot is authing now, return falsehotspot.auth.debug.timeouthotspot.auth.debug.url hotspot2:hotspotClients is null.hotspotWorkTypehotspot_auth_debughotspot_auth_debug change to: hsReleasehtCapabilitiesToStringhtOperationToStringhttp check start.*http threads are both destroied or timeouthttp:/http:/http://[1http://connectivitycheck.gstatic.com/generate_204(http://developers.google.cn/generate_204!http://www.google.cn/generate_2045http://xmlpull.org/v1/doc/features.html#indent-outputhttpHealthStathttpProbeThreahttps:// https://[3https://conn-service-us-04.allawnos.com/generate2043https://conn-service-us-05.allawnos.com/generate204

Do not attempt to delete the file!

-Important note: The down side for disabling captive portal or captive portal detection, is that when you try to connect to the wifi at the airport, your phone won't automatically take you to the captive portal page, so you will need to open a browser and go to any https:// based domains to trigger/redirect to the captive portal page.

-Below proof that these domains that are being called by the phone (taken from pi-hole and rethinkdns).

pi-hole blocking oneplus telemetry
rethinkdns blocking classify-app-us.allawnos.com
rethinkdns blocking outergtest14.oneplus.com
